I just got Internet access, so here are some more updates...
Travel Log Day 3
Today we got up and packed everything back up and got ready to leave Parkston. Bill got up early to go to the bakery down the street to see if he could get some fresh caramel rolls. He came back with some fresh donuts. (The caramel rolls all had nuts, bummer, but the donuts were great!)
We checked out of the Rainbow Motel around 9:30 and headed to Mitchell, home of the World Famous Corn Palace. We stopped there and took pictures of the kids in the same spot we took pictures of them last time we were there. Then we went in and looked around a little and when we were done we got back on the road to head to Arnolds Park.
We got into town around 2:30 and stopped at Godfather’s Pizza for a late lunch and then went to the Faulkner’s house where we spent the rest of the day getting settled and visiting.
Travel Log Day 4
Today was a very full day. We got up, got ready, ate cereal for breakfast, and then we were off to the park. When we got there we found out they were have a classic car show just outside so we walked around that for a little bit and then went in. Tommy and Sophie had a great time riding everything and Jake refused to ride anything, so he just stayed in his stroller and was happy watching everyone.
We came home to eat lunch and rest a little and then around 3:30 walked over to the little beach at the lake to play. We stayed there for about 2 hours and then came back to eat dinner and rest again. Then we headed back to the park to let the kids play some more.
We got back around 9:15, took baths and everyone went to bed.
Travel Log Day 5
Today started out a little more relaxed. We got up ate breakfast and watched a movie. The Amusement Park didn’t open until 11:00 since it is Sunday, but they did have a car show of all Corvettes that we were able to enjoy while we waited. We played at the park for a couple of hours and then decided to come back to the Faulkner’s house for lunch and a rest. Jake fell asleep on the way home so I took him in and he ended up sleeping through lunch. At about 4:00 the Faulkner’s took us out to dinner at Perkins which was very good. Then when we got back we went over to Bobby and Deb’s house to go for a boat ride. We rode all around the lakes and Tommy and Sophie got to take turns driving the boat a while (while they sat on Bobby’s lap that is.)
After our boat ride we went back to the Faulkner’s for baths and then bed. Everyone was tuckered out!
Travel Log Day 6
Today we got up and played a little and then headed out to the park again. On week days they don’t open until 11:00, so we walked around a little until they opened and then the kids had a great time again. Today was a hot day here, it got up to 95, I know that nothing compared to the 106 at home, but still, too hot to stay out too long, so we went back to the Faulkner’s house and got our suits on and headed to the lake again. We had fun swimming for a couple of hours and then went back and clean up and the Faulkner’s took us to dinner again.
After dinner we packed up our car and moved across the street to the Four Seasons Hotel to stay for the rest of our time here. Mrs. Faulkner has not been feeling well, so they called in a favor to a friend and we are staying there for free until the weekend when they are booked again.
The rest of the day we watched a movie and put the kids to bed, then I headed to Spirit Lake (just a couple miles up the road) to do a couple loads of laundry at the Suds Your Duds.
