Jake's surgery has been scheduled for May 18 at 7:45am. He will be implanted bilaterally, which means both ears. This surgery will be done at Medical City Dallas in the "big" OR rather than the normal day surgery OR due to the fact that both ears will be done at the same time. It is still a day surgery, so we should be home by dinner time that day.
God has provided so much for us through this entire process. As most of you know, insurance denied doing a bilateral procedure due to the fact that they consider it "experimental". We prayed for an answer and that is when we learned of a study by an implant company that might make it possible for Jake to get both ears implanted rather than just one, so we went to our Audiologist and asked her about it. When we voiced our concerned about it being a different company than the one we have worked with for Tommy she suggested that she present a study to our company and see what happens. Just days later we learned that they not only accepted the study for Jake but for four other children too. God is GOOD! We know it is Him who has allowed all of this to happen for our son.
